* drm/bridge: Pass down connector to drm bridge detect hookAndy Yan2025-07-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In some application scenarios, we hope to get the corresponding connector when the bridge's detect hook is invoked. In most cases, we can get the connector by drm_atomic_get_connector_for_encoder if the encoder attached to the bridge is enabled, however there will still be some scenarios where the detect hook of the bridge is called but the corresponding encoder has not been enabled yet. For instance, this occurs when the device is hot plug in for the first time. Since the call to bridge's detect is initiated by the connector, passing down the corresponding connector directly will make things simpler. Considering that some code depend on the connector, the following changes have been made: - Only process edid in &drm_bridge_funcs.edid_read(), so no need to store additional edid info. - Now cdn_dp_get_sink_capability() only focused on reading DPCD_REV. - Update bpc info in cdn_dp_bridge_atomic_enable() instead of cdn_dp_encoder_mode_set(). Actually, the bpc data will be used in cdn_dp_bridge_atomic_enable(). - Switch to use DRM_BRIDGE_OP_DP_AUDIO helpers. This patch also convert to use devm_drm_bridge_alloc() API. Just get rid of the 'remove_new' member function, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had a comment to that effect: /* * .remove_new() is a relic from a prototype conversion of .remove(). * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped. */ This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with '.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabs to make things line up. I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that used spaces to line things up. Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and this is the end result. These are struct drm_mode_config.connection_mutex and struct drm_mode_config.mutex. - It does not use drm_helper_probe_detect(), which helps with the details of locking and detection. - It uses the connector's status field to determine a change to the connector status. The epoch_counter field is the correct one. The field signals a change even if the connector status' value did not change. Replace the code with a call to drm_connector_helper_hpd_irq_event(), which fixes all these problems. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Trivially convert rockchip drm drivers from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. Use drm_mode_copy() instead which explicitly preserves the list head of the destination mode. Even if we know the destination mode is not on any list using drm_mode_copy() seems decent as it sets a good example. Bad examples of not using it might eventually get copied into code where preserving the list head actually matters. Obviously one case not covered here is when the mode itself is embedded in a larger structure and the whole structure is copied. This is used throughout the rockchip driver instead of struct drm_encoder directly. The information the VOP2 drivers needs is the of_graph endpoint node of the encoder. To ease bisectability this is added here. While at it convert the different encoder-to-driverdata macros to static inline functions in order to gain type safety and readability. Hence only one PHY can connect to DP controller at one time, the other should be disconnected. The GRF_SOC_CON26 register has a switch bit to do it, set this bit means enable PHY 1, clear this bit means enable PHY 0. If the board has 2 Type-C ports, the DP driver get the phy id from devm_of_phy_get_by_index, and then control this switch according to this id. But some others board only has one Type-C port, it may be PHY 0 or PHY 1. The dts node id can not tell us the correct PHY id. Hence move this switch to PHY driver, the PHY driver can distinguish between PHY 0 and PHY 1, and then write the correct register bit.
